This card was a doozy at the 7th SJC. A quick look at its effect can tell you why; save your cards from destruction, and Summon Stardust. Beast. But with a beast card comes some beast setbacks...sort of. Firstly, two or more cards you control would have to be destroyed. If this card is singled out, or your monster gets Fissured, etc., you wouldn't be able to activate Starlight Road and you risk potentially losing it (MST no longer becomes fun ) If you are in a situation of the likes, with the major cards being Mirror Force, TT, Heavy, and Lightning Vortex, you can save all your cards and bring out a Stardust, which will save your cards another time. Sadly, since Road Special Summons and doesn't Synchro Summon, once you use Stardust's effect or he gets destroyed, he's gone for good and you can't Special Summon him from the Graveyard. Still, a free Stardust--2500ATK + amazing effect--has its useful uses. There are some interesting rulings on Road, which if you plan on using it should read up on here. There's a lot to read up on, and if you plan on running it it's good to know the specifics. Do you run Road? How many? Side or Main? What are some good combos you've pulled off with it? Discuss!

I'm Siding it at the moment, and since I don't have a Stardust, I don't have to worry about the downside to the Summoning. However, I do like it against decks with lots of mass diestruction, and I'll always Side it in if my opponent has a Mirror Force.

I also Side mine, mainly for the reasons you stated--there are just some opponents that don't use large-scale destruction cards (myself being one). Since it's a large-scale stopper, it risks being a dead draw. But I like how it still saves you, even if you don't have a Stardust to Summon.

Thus the reason it's Sided at all. The best part? I can splash it into any deck, unlike, say, Corridor of Agony, which effs with my opponent's Glad Beasts...and my Fortune Ladies. Still sided, just won't side it in in my Fortune Lady deck.

Yes, yes, true. Starlight Road benefits you and harms the opponent very well. Too many cards these days have negative effects for both players. But Starlight Road gets you one guaranteed save and a potential second save! I like it very, very much.

Almost everyone at tournament level runs a Heavy, though. And your Spells and Traps deserve the protection. I think maining 1 is a good idea. The second one can be sided at your choice.

That's a good point. After going to YCS I started maining 2 Road's, mainly for protecting my backrow until I can get out my big Synchros.

We're going to be seeing this card a lot less now, unless those Black Rose decks start popping up everywhere. It was a huge backrow saver, but now that Heavy is gone--even with Dark Hole added in its place--it definitely won't see as much use. It's kind of sad, really.
